Windshield Repairs

CALL US: (786) 876-7802
Operators of heavy equipment work extremely hard, and so does their equipment. Bulldozers, excavators, trucks, backhoes and forklifts, among other heavy gear, are routinely subjected to strenuous labor conditions. The operators of these vehicles depend on the windshield for safety. When cracks, chips, or brakes happen, they need to be fixed immediately to avoid more damage and keep the people who use them safe.
Numerous factors might deteriorate and risk the glass integrity of your heavy equipment.

The most prevalent reasons for windshield damage on heavy machinery are the following:

  • Debris
  • Sudden changes in temperature
  • Accidents
  • A glass of poor quality
  • Inadequate installation

OSHA and FMCSA Requirements

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that heavy machinery have an "intact windshield with functional windshield wipers."

OSHA has stringent requirements in place to ensure operator safety. Additionally, broken glass is a significant hazard to the equipment operator and others. A broken or cracked glass that loses its integrity cannot provide enough protection, and does not meet OSHA regulations for you to keep your operator protected.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has established its standards for semi-truck and truck drivers. They mandate that a driver's vision of the road not be obstructed by a cracked windshield.
Breaks, chips, cracks, windshield obstructions, and discoloration are all indicators of a damaged windshield. A Department of Transportation (DOT) inspection or a traffic check by law enforcement with a damaged windshield can result in penalties and fines.

Early Warning Signs of Window Problems

Many equipment operators and owners believe that window fractures or cracks are the only indications of window damage. While cracks are a typical signal of damage that has resulted in a loss of window integrity, there are numerous additional warning indicators.

Cracks come in various shapes and sizes and are an obvious indicator of window damage. Apart from the usual cracks, there are numerous additional window issue warning signs. Many of these problems may appear simple at first glance, but they can soon develop into larger ones that require additional time and money to resolve.
Several types of cracks include the following:

  • Surface chip
  • Bull’s-eye
  • Star
  • Straight line
  • Half-moon
  • Angel wings
  • Starburst
  • Extended ray on bull’s-eye
Among the warning indications of window problems are the following:

  • Anywhere on the glass, there are small chips.
  • Gaps between the glass and the frame are visible.
  • The glass vibrates, rattles, or crackles.
  • Water leaking from the window seal.
  • Wind can be felt or heard blowing through the area.
  • Glass has become warped, wavy, or blurred.
